Letters From Leton: Where Do Watermelons Come From?

Watermelons are a favorite of mine, and each bite brings back so many memories, especially of my youth. As a kid I was told by my older cousins if you swallowed a watermelon seed it would start growing in your stomach. I can remember the panic after swallowing a seed and imagining it growing inside me!  After a while, I figured out it was just a trick played on me to the amusement of my kin.

Summer is such a special time. Vacations taken with family to the beach. Croquet in the yard with family and friends until dark. Then, time to catch lightning bugs, put them in a mason jar, and marvel at the light as you drifted off to sleep with the jar beside your bed.

Each day we have the opportunity to create wonderful memories. At home, in our communities, and with our customers. Good memories I believe also come from a positive attitude. An attitude about each moment and each day create energy in ourselves that affects those around us. And that shouldn’t be based on where we are, what we are doing, or the people we are with.

Have a great week.
