Jonesville, Virginia–Powell Valley National Bank (PVB, Bank) is pleased to announce Shawn Porter has joined PVB as Senior Vice President and Market Executive.
Porter joins Powell Valley National Bank with 26 years of banking and finance experience. He has worked his way through the banking ranks, beginning his career with Wachovia Bank in 1998. After working for several “big banks,” Shawn found his perfect fit in community banking. “Being a part of a community bank allows me to work with businesses that are also friends and neighbors. As a father of three, I want to help this region grow and stay at the forefront of business and industry trends without losing the small-town feel,” shared Shawn. “Nothing is more important than the legacy that we leave for future generations. Powell Valley National Bank’s long history and deep roots in the communities we serve are what attracted me to this position.”
“Shawn is a dedicated banker and community volunteer having spent 17 years in the Tri-Cities Market,” said Leton L. Harding, Jr., CEO of PVB. “His expertise, dedication, and customer and client focused approach will be of tremendous value to our bank. We have full confidence that he will thrive in his role as Market Executive.”
“I am humbled to be chosen to lead PVB’s new loan production office in Bristol. It feels awesome to be a part of the Bank’s next step and I can’t wait for Bristol to experience the high customer service standards that we offer,” said Shawn. “As other banks grow and forget the importance of relationships and helping neighbors, I think the people and businesses of Bristol will be happy to meet us and see that we can offer them everything that other banks do and still put the needs of our community first and operate with a mindset of how we can help.”
Shawn was raised in Ithaca, New York but has been calling Tennessee home since 2007. He volunteers with the Meals on Wheels program and serves on the board of the Eastern Eight Community Development Corporation, a nonprofit organization that helps underserved members of the area become homeowners. Shawn has also twice been recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Kingsport Rotary Club. Shawn and his family live in Bristol where he enjoys golf, woodworking and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys.
