Letters From Leton: V.C. Day

During your lifetime there are many happy days.

The day you got married. The day(s) your children are born.

Other days are comparable, while perhaps not quiet to that level. Days such as your graduation day. The first day at a new job. The day you arrive at the vacation destination you’ve dreamed of for your entire life.

Last month I experienced one of those days. It was my V.C. Day.

Put another way, it was my “Victory over Covid Day,” as I got my first dose of the Covid Vaccine.

Since then, I’ve pondered all the things I look forward to doing with much less fear. Spending time with my mom and giving her a hug. Eating out. Attending a music concert or a local festival.

All of this takes place due to the hard and professional work of scientists and one simple action – my willingness to get vaccinated.

Not exactly landing at Normandy or running into a burning building… but my little way of being a hero for all of those around me.

Stay safe (and get vaccinated).

– Leton
