2025 Top Virginia Employer for Interns

Jonesville, Virginia–Powell Valley National Bank (PVB, Bank) was recognized as a 2025 Top Virginia Employer for Interns.

The award, administered by the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership (V-TOP) in collaboration with the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, Virginia Chamber of Commerce Foundation and the Virginia Business Higher Education Council, recognizes organizations for their commitment to internship programs and talent development.

“The exceptional businesses and organizations being recognized today understand that providing students with hands-on experience and real-world skills not only strengthens their own talent pipelines but also fuels the long-term economic growth of the Commonwealth,” said Cathie J. Vick, President and CEO, Virginia Chamber of Commerce.  “The Virginia Chamber is proud to celebrate these top employers for their leadership and commitment to developing Virginia’s next generation of talent.”

This year’s award recognized 215 businesses across Virginia who provide high-quality internships to students. PVB was recognized, in part because of the following criteria:

  • Exposure to senior leadership
  • Structured mentorship programs
  • Professional development
  • Competitive hourly rates

“In my estimation, this highlights PVB’s commitment to being a community bank of the ‘future,’ not just the past,” said Leton L. Harding, Jr., President & CEO of PVB. “I recognize the immense value of our internship program and firmly believe that learning should be a lifelong journey. We consider our internships to be essential for fostering individual professional growth and enhancing regional economic development.”

PVB was one of six Southwest Virginia (Region 1) businesses selected. Region 1 includes Bland, Buchanan, Carroll, Dickenson, Grayson, Lee, Russell, Scott, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, Wise and Wythe counties and the cities of Bristol, Galax and Norton.
